Three research professor positions open in Luke

Natural Resources Institute is looking for three research professors in the fields of sustainable fisheries, automation of forest operations and artificial intelligence, and food science and processing.
Research Professor in Sustainable Fisheries
- The main field of research for this research professor position is the sustainability of commercial and recreational fisheries and fish stocks, including ecological, economic and social sustainability. Combining various interests, extensive networking and active work with stakeholders play important role. New initiatives in improving the vitality of fisheries as a part of the food system are also welcome.
Research Professor in Automation and AI in Forest Operations
- The research professorship in Automation and AI in Forest Operations covers mechanical methods and system operations related to forest regeneration, silviculture, harvesting, transport and other forest-related operations. The scope of the tasks ranges from current ICT methods used in forest processing to innovative data mergers, data transfer solutions and automation. The position focuses on advancing new smart digital solutions to enable the next technological leap in forest operations. The aim is to develop cost-effective methods that support the sustainable use of forests, the availability of high-quality raw materials, ecosystem services and biodiversity.
Research Professor in Food Science and Processing
- The research professorship in food science and processing promotes the innovative use of diverse raw materials in healthy and nutritious food solutions supporting sustainable, resilient and healthy lifestyle.

- Develop innovative food processing and product concepts for enhanced use of diverse, new and underutilized raw materials in healthy diets
- Boost circular bioeconomy principles in new food and food production solutions
- Gain understanding of the links between primary production practices and food quality
The persons selected for the positions lead and develop research in the fields of professorships at Luke. Applicants are required to have a doctorate in a suitable field and are expected to provide evidence of leading research teams and projects, as well as contacts and previous experience in international cooperation. In addition, we expect applicants to actively participate in the societal dialogue.
