Description and content

The statistics comprise annual data on the production, foreign trade (imports and exports) and deliveries based on domestic production of wood pellets. Total deliveries are divided into deliveries to small-scale housing and farms and to heating and power plants and large buildings. The information is given in thousand tonnes (1,000 t). This information is used to monitor development of the consumption and production of wood pellets.

Data collection and sources

The population consists of all known Finnish pellet manufacturers. The information on production and deliveries is collected with a web form from manufacturers. Since 2009, the information on wood pellet exports and imports has been derived from the ULJAS database on foreign trade published by Finnish Customs. Before 2009, this information was collected from pellet manufacturers and importers.

Update frequency

The statistics are compiled annually.

Preparation and publication schedule

Statistics are available some three months after the reporting year.
