Description and content
The statistics on wood consumption by the forest industries present annual wood consumption information on the use of wood by the forest industries; consumption of domestic and imported roundwood, and forest industry by-products and wood residues. The information is given as solid volumes, cubic metres over bark. This information is used in the monitoring of wood consumption by the forest industries and, combined with data on use of energy wood, in the monitoring of total wood consumption.
Categories
The information is presented by roundwood assortment and origin, branch of industry and region (until 2014, by regional units of the Public Services at the Finnish Forest centre).
Data collection and sources
The information on wood consumption by the forest industries is mainly based on the information collected by the Finnish Forest Industries Federation from its member companies. Information for other forest industry companies is collected directly by Luke. Information from small sawmills have been collected every 10 years or so by conducting separate sample surveys.

The statistics are compiled annually.

OSF information is available from 1955 onwards and other information from 1860 onwards.
