Changes and corrections to flows of wood material statistics

This page shows the changes to the statistics from 2020 onwards and the revisions from January 2022 onwards, such as mergers of statistics and name changes. A correction is a revision to the content of a statistical release made after this release date. Major revisions will also be published in an additional release.

Flows of wood material 2017–2021

The data of the wood flow statistics for 2017-2021 have been corrected on 29.11.2023. The supply of wood in the mass balance is on average 0.6% lower than previously published. The change is due to corrections in the imports of forest industry by-products and wood residues and the supply of energywood. 

The correction of total roundwood removal in 2019 and 2020 reduced the supply of logs and pulpwood in the mass balance and the use balance.

The name of the statistics on flows of wood material (ESS, OSF) was changed on 29.11. 2022.

Previously, the statistics were called Forest accounts.

In 2020, the status of the Forest Account statistics was changed to OSF statistics. The statistics have been transferred from Statistics Finland to Luke and were SVT statistics at Statistics Finland.

The change entered into force at the beginning of 2021.
