Feed Tables - Fur animals

On this page you can find the criteria for calculating feed values for fur animal feeds and feeding recommendations. The Feed Table is a list of typical compositional and feed value data for commonly used feed, i.e., a list of the so-called reference feed.

Official equations for the calculation of feed values have been defined for different animal species. Compositional data required for calculating the feed values are obtained from feed analysis results, or optionally the reference values presented in Feed Tables can be used. In both cases, the digestibility coefficients from Feed Tables are used.

Distribution of the metabolizable energy (ME) of feed

  • 18,8 kJ/g dCP (digestible crude protein)
  • 39,8 kJ/g dCF (digestible crude fat)
  • 17,6 kJ/g dCCH (digestible crude carbohydrates)

1) Salt supplementation is used mainly for pregnant and lactating females.
2) The minimum requirement for iron is 20-30 ppm, when no factors interfering with the availability of it exists.

Vitamin requirements of fur animals

The lower requirements apply from mid July to slaughter, and higher ones to winter, gestation and lactation periods.

1) The requirement of vitamin E depends on the quality of fat, so that the use of fish fat increases the requirement.
2) Recommendations take into account the abundant use of thiaminase fish (e.g. herring and sprat) and vitamin losses during storage of feed
