Project will explore the genomic distances among parental lines in Finnish Barley breeding program. The SNP genotypes, and the phenotypes are utilized to develop a model for genomic evaluation of selection candidates. Different traits, and choices of utilization of genomic selection are considered.
The genotypes and phenotypes were analyzed and best suitable model was suggested. In five trait model the yield was divided into 3 categories based on lattitude and soil type, yield quality was considered by 1000 seed weight and protein-%. Model accuracy was estimated using cross-validation techniques. Results were considered accurate enough to be used in planning of future crosses.
