Tracing fresh photosynthates through larch using 13CO2 labelling

LarchC

A 13CO2-labelling experiment in Tura, Russia to study translocation, storage and remobilization of freshly produced photosynthates within larch trees over the period of 5 years.

The results will enable us to trace how carbon is allocated in the larch trees after photoassimilation. The results on C allocation will be relevant for the interpretation of tree ring δ13C chronologies, which are used for climate reconstructions. The δ13C data of the collected plant samples will enable us to determine the “dilution” rate for different tissues and thus enable us to calculate the primary net production for the larch trees.
