Panimolaboratorio Powered by Luke

Research and development

Natural Resources Institute Finland coordinates research in the beverage and brewing sector through the Panimolaboratorio Powered by Luke model. It is an open network open to all companies in the brewing, beverage and food industry and related value chains, research institutes and universities. The aim is to use research to promote the competitiveness, sustainability and international visibility of the Finnish brewing and beverage sector.

Cooperation through research

Luke will organise open events to brainstorm, design and launch pre-competitive research in the brewing and beverage sector in close cooperation with industry and other research institutes. Luke's new model will focus on all stages and themes of the chain, from sustainable primary production to retail and from the circular economy to export.

In addition, Panimolaboratorio Powered by Luke, together with the Finnish Brewmasters Association, organizes training for company representatives on various topics and coordinates the development of malting barley in Finland.

Developing the competitiveness and sustainability of the Finnish brewing and beverage sector

The long-term objective of the activities is to use research to promote the competitiveness, sustainability and international visibility of the Finnish brewing and beverage sector and to find malting barley varieties and other raw materials suitable for Finland's growing conditions and to ensure their functionality and quality throughout the value chain.

Panimolaboratorio Powered by Luke continues the successful pre-competitive research collaboration that Oy Panimolaboratorio Ab started in the 1950s, while broadening research perspectives and inviting new actors interested in the beverage sector to join the multidisciplinary collaboration.
