Improving Seed Orchard Management

SITKE

In the project seed orchard management methods, including flowering induction as well as pest control measures, are studied to increase seed production of improved Norway spruce and Scots pine. The increased availability of genetically improved seed increases stand growth, carbon sequestration and the profitability of forestry.

The dissemination of the results and rapid extension of the information are one of the main goals of the project. The field work is conducted in close collaboration with commercial seed producers.
