Towards a Sustainable Economy - Implementation of the Oulu Region Bioeconomy Strategy (PPBIO) is a project to implement the regional bioeconomy development strategy completed in late 2014. The project manager is the Council of Oulu Region, with the Natural Resources Institute, the Oulu University of Applied Sciences, the Finnish Environment Institute and the University of Oulu. Objective is to make the strategy and its potential to be known to companies and other actors.
During the project a joint platform for the key bioeconomy actors in the province of Northern Ostrobothnia will be established. The results will be summarized in a review of the networks and project needs of the bio-industry sector. A report on the value chain and potential of wood processing will also be made. Further, an inventory and plan on arrangements for bio-economy communication at the Oulu University campus will be prepared. The project will publish a final report and articles.
