Traditional pelargoniums

Pelakuu

Cultivation of traditional pelargonium has revived in recent decades. Among enthusiasts, museum actors and commercial gardeners, there is special interest in Finnish traditional pelargoniums. Practical information is needed on the varieties and history of traditional pelargoniums and their cultivation in co-operation with Luke's research project “Perinnepelargoneista hehkua puutarhaviljelyyn”, the Finnish Pelargonium Association, plant enthusiasts, local museums and commercial gardens. The project organizes geranium exhibitions and other events mainly in the region of Southwest Finland. The results are compiled into a pelargonium catalog, which presents 50 traditional pelargoniums grown in Finland.
