PaiBiRa- project will study the suitability of new local bio-based materials for construction. The projects will test materials that could be used to replace current, energy intensive, nature harming or poorly recyclable building materials.
The materials studied include secondary flow of forestry, forest and agro biomasses, common reed, peat, sheeps wool, hemp, moss and other possible bio-based materials. The regional potential of the materials, their technical and structural physical suitability to insulate building envelopes and their applicability to possible other type of construction, simulation models of each structure, field tests and quality classes as well as LCA and preliminary business models will be studied.
