Development of breeding value prediction software for animal breeding enterprises

MiXBLUP

Start day

01.10.2010

End day

31.12.2022

Goals

The breeding value prediction software MiXBLUP is developed by scientists of Natural Resources Institute Finland (Luke) and the Animal Breeding & Genomics Centre of Wageningen UR Livestock Research in the Netherlands. MiXBLUP allows using of sophisticated models in estimation of breeding values for all animal species. MiXBLUP uses a state of the art solving algorithm which ensures fast computation for large and complex evaluation models and large livestock populations.

Outputs

The focus of current research and software development is on the utilization of genomic information for predicting breeding values for livestock.
