Use of rural proofing method in Finland: experiences and effects

In the MAKOVA study, the use and effectiveness of the rural proofing method especially as a support tool for municipality and regional planning and decision-making. The functionality, results and effectiveness of the rural proofing method have not been studied very much for the present in Finland or internationally. This project tries to fill this gap for its part.

The main results are published as a research report and as a policy recommendations article on the maaseutupolitiikka.fi website. Results are also disseminated utilizing different communication channels and social media. In the ending stage of the project, a webinar is arranged. The results of the project are useful to all stakeholders who are dealing with actions and decisions which have rural effects.
