The aim of the establishment of the forest, garden and animal based environments in Loue's unit is primarily to support teaching and students in the fields of horticulture, forestry, food, tourism, natural products and wellbeing industries at the Vocational College Lappia and in the natural resources units of the Lapland University of Applied Sciences, which are located nearby. The therapeutic garden supports companies in providing of social and health care services in Lapland and the municipality of Tervola, such as occupational rehabilitation and nature-based integration and work experiments for immigrants. In addition, it serves as a collection of northern genetic resources and in landscaping research. The project builds eight environments for innovation, learning and development: 1. Arctic therapeutic garden, 2. Cultivation area for northern hops, 3. Animal farm, 4. Duckboards of chaga mushroom forest, 5. Sheep and reindeer fence, 6. Apiary, 7. Forest room and 8. Animal shelters.
