Sustainable use of forest resources plays an important role in Myanmars economy. In recent decades, the forest area, forest resources and forest biodiversity has markedly decreased. Project proposal of FAO for the governments of Finland and Myanmar will develop National Forest Monitoring and Information System (NFMIS) which is supported by the ICI-project. In addition, Luke will offer training for field work and strengthen the capacity of laboratory facilities of FRI and UFY through LoA.
Laboratory facilities of FRI are updated and development plans of laboratories of FRI and UFY are compiled. Manuals for NFI field work and laboratory analysis are updated.
