Enhancement of plant inspection, risk assessment and controlled healthy plant production by adoption of a broad-spectrum diagnostic approach

A recently developed novel molecular method (small-RNA deep-sequencing) provides an effective solution to detect viruses and viroids without advance knowledge. The aim of this project is to test its suitability and cost-effectiveness in detection of viruses and viroids in imported vegetatively propagated ornamentals as well as the domestic nuclear stock plants maintained for healthy plant production. The project aims to transfer the technology from basic research to the use of applied research

Results will be published in scientific journals and shared with national authorities as well as the relevant authorities in EU.
