Feed Efficiency Towards genetic improvement of feed efficiency in dairy cattle

Feed Efficiency

Start day

01.01.2013

End day

31.12.2017

Goals

The main aims of the project are: 1) Establish a large and comprehensive research database on feed efficiency and its component traits 2) Develop feed efficiency traits for genetic improvement that ensure high economic response 3) Develop simple and practical methods for on-farm measurement of new and complex trait.

Outputs

Expected research results will comprise of the definition of FE traits, the economic value of improving FE, the developed new on-farm measurement methods, genetic and environmental parameter estimates for FE and related traits, and validation results from research farm and field study. Results will be published in peer reviewed scientific journals, at conferences, and in professional magazines.
