Technological and conceptual basis for Continuous Cover Forestry (CCF)

CCFBASIS

The general aim of the project is to construct technological and conceptual basis for CCF. In more detail, the CCFBASIS will

1) construct and define terminology and concepts for continuous cover forest planning, management and harvesting

2) investigate what features of the diameter and height distribution of trees will most efficiently describe even-aged and uneven aged stand structures

3) investigate appropriateness of smart technologies to predict uneven-aged forest stand composition, to choose most suitable logging method and to assist managers in optimal spacing of logging trails

4) and conduct studies that increase our understanding about the soil disturbances and resilience caused by selection and partial cutting methods.

CCFBASIS project aims to build the foundation for future CCF-projects. Project produce common basic CCF-concepts for the dialogue of beneficiaries (Forestry Center, forest industry, forest management associations, forest owners, contractors).
