Enhancement of nutrient recycling by a local bio-cycle-model

BioKierto

The goal of the project is to design a regional circular economy and nutrient recycling model. The project will be implemented in a Finnish region with a concentration of food industry, poultry farms, and agriculture in a close proximity to the urban area. The main idea is of the project is that more efficient local recycling of nutrients is predicted to prevent nutrient flushing and leakage to the local water bodies.

The methods used include, biogas production, insect breeding, biomass production, separation of the value components of side streams, algae breeding and water treatment. As a result of the project, the project will result in a model that can improve the local nutrition cycle and increase the vitality of the area.
