The aim of the project is to study bioactivity of different compounds and/or extracts from forest-derived biomasses and to develop the biotesting of the extracts. Factors affecting the availability and cultivation of the biomasses will be investigated. By using different extraction and pre-testing methods and with different in vitro cell models new compounds or extracts are searched for potential use in biotechnological or pharmacological products.
We aim at finding more SME partners for projects to develop new high value added products. We have already used and will offer in future our laboratory methods and knowledge developed in this project for SME business partners through the platform “Luke Custom Services Pirkanmaa”. This project will develop new potential testing methods, new forest side stream raw materials, and technical skills for the custom platform.
