Natural Antivirals

Natural Resources Institute Finland (Luke) and the University of Jyväskylä have together discovered natural products which have strong anti-viral efficacy against viruses. The efficacy has been proven against the very stable enteroviruses, which are among the most common viruses and cause huge amount of acute and chronic infections around the world, and for coronaviruses, both leading to high economic costs. Presently there are no green, non-toxic antivirals available to lower the viral load from hands and surfaces and to reduce the incidence of infections in the daily life. In this Research to Business project, experts in natural resources, viruses and IPR/commercialization team up with companies linked with disinfectants, natural products, pharmaceuticals and groceries to verify the business path for our product and secure commercialization after two years.
