The main aim of the current research is to identify opportunities for improving the resilience and increasing the sustainability of beef production through better feed conversion efficiency and lowering the inputs of human-edible resources for beef production. There are large differences between farming systems in the efficiency of C, P and N utilization in growing cattle. By identifying the factors contributing to this variation improvements in nutrient use efficiency can be achieved.
