Towards a future-oriented “Energiewende”: An anticipatory multi-level approach to the decentralised renewable energy transition

FutWend

We will study external drivers, actors, mental models, policies and institutions that affect sustainability in energy transition. They are analysed through the MLP framework on socio-technical transition. FutWend will analyse the transformation of the energy sector towards renewable and decentralised energy sources, focusing on three case technologies: biogas, woodchips and ground source heat pumps. We produce policy-relevant information on the prospects and barriers of such transformation.

We produce peer-reviewed articles, presentations and popular pieces for appropriate fora. We discuss e.g., the way distributed renewable energy is constructed in key policy documents, business models of forerunners, the future prospects and barriers of renewable distributed energy, and the views of Finnish people regarding the future of renewable distributed energy.
