Social effects of land consolidation -preliminary study and application for study areas

The main objective in this study is to reveal total effects of land consolidation projects, which are assumed to go far beyond agricultural effects. For this purpose, appropriate indicators to measure environmental effects, areal vitality and effects on people living there, are developed. After this, indicators are applied in study areas including Sieve, where agricultural land is totally re-organized, and nearby municipalities with no similar actions done.

The main output produced in this project is to get new information; what is total effect of land consolidation projects in euros as other, previously rather unknown, aspects besides agriculture are taken into account. Results can be used to justify government subsidies paid in these projects as whole spectrum of effects are measured, not only agriculture.
