Biopolyester based hydrophobic and antimicrobial coating of lignocellulosic materials

PolyCoat

The aim of this project is to utilise suberin and cutin monomers (mainly epoxy and hydroxy fatty acids) and create functional coatings for fibre based materials, like mould resistant solid wood and waterproof fibre networks.

We will develop new and innovative approaches to utilise birch and aspen outer bark and legume pods and turn them into green chemicals for hydrophobic and antimicrobial surface treatments of wood based materials.
