PlotDesign: Effect of spatial patterns of trees on optimal plot design in forest inventories

PlotDesign SA 304212

This project investigates how the optimal sample plot design in forest inventories depends on the spatial pattern of trees and tree sizes, both when traditional and new measuring devices are used. Results can be used for planning cost-efficient and reliable forest inventories.

Changes in the optimal sample plot design along increased clustering (or regularity) of the tree pattern are investigated, given specific constraints, both when traditional and new measuring devices are used. Results of the project can be used to construct more cost-efficient or more accurate and precise field assessment of forests.
