Insect Center in Häme

The search of alternative protein sources has been active in recent years. Insect economy has emerged as an opportunity. This emerging sector requires new knowledge and new skilled people and training. The project aim is to build a center of excellence to support the growth of the sector ecosystem. The center includes collaboration models, a virtual information portal and physical research ifrastructure.

The project organizes seminars and innovation workshops, builds a website presenting research knowledge, development needs, industry and entrepreneurial training packages. Insect research infrastructure is linked to industry supporting activities. The model and infrastructure creates new business opportunities and supports the needs of the whole country.
