The project is testing and developing a mining scenario method that allows us to predict the development of mining operations. In addition, the method of valuing alternative forms of land use (mining, tourism, forestry) is being developed. The project also looks at how law and participation practices can be developed to support adaptive change towards a sustainable economy. Luken's work focuses on the development of different methods of valuing alternative land uses and participation practices
The project provides new information on the ecological, economic and social values of the use of natural resources in the Arctic region and develops a new spatial information method for land use planning.
